Why a single library page

A run bundles three separate templates — the import mapping, the PDF layout, and the email message — into one reusable configuration, plus the run itself needs managing over time. Rather than scattering that management across separate pages, the Templates page brings all of it into one place: a single page with tabs for Runs, Import Templates, PDF Templates, and Email Templates, so you always know where to go to find or manage any of them.

What's on each tab

Every tab shows a card grid of the items in that category, with edit and delete actions per card. Above the grid, summary tiles give you an at-a-glance count of the total, active, inactive, and default templates in that tab, and a search box plus an Active only filter narrow the grid down when you're hunting for a specific one.

  • Runs lists your reusable run containers — the entity the code calls a template combination, bundling one import template, one PDF template, and one email template together.
  • Import Templates, PDF Templates, and Email Templates each list your organization's saved templates of that type.

Duplicating and deleting

Import, PDF, and email templates can each be duplicated with one click — a small confirmation names the copy with "(Copy)" appended before it's created, so you don't lose the original while experimenting with a variation. Deleting any run or template requires an inline second-click confirmation rather than a separate dialog, so a stray click can't remove something by accident.

System templates vs. your own

The Library's PDF Templates tab lists only your organization's own templates — it doesn't include the built-in system templates (the CRA and IRS-aligned sets). Those live outside the library and show up instead in the template picker you use when setting up a run's PDF strategy, alongside your own templates under a My Templates heading next to the built-in System Templates. You can't edit or delete a system template, but you can use it as-is or duplicate the idea into your own by designing a similar one from scratch.

Reuse across runs

Because import, PDF, and email templates are saved independently of any one run, the same template can be attached to multiple runs — for example, one PDF template shared by both your annual campaign run and a mid-year matching-gifts run, each paired with a different import mapping. Editing a saved template only affects future generations that use it; it never rewrites receipts that were already produced.
