Inviting Members
To add a new team member to your organization:
- Go to Organization Settings then Team Members.
- Click Invite Member.
- Enter the person's email address.
- Select a role (Admin, Member, Viewer, or Custom).
- Click Send Invitation.
The invitee receives an email with a link to join your organization. If they do not already have a TaxReceipt.app account, they will be prompted to sign up first.

Organization deletion and ownership transfer aren't permissions on this list -- they're hardcoded to the Owner role and can't be granted to anyone else, including Admins. See Roles and Permissions for the full permission model and how it's enforced.
Role Descriptions
- Owner -- every permission granted, plus two actions no other role has: only the owner can transfer ownership or delete the organization. Each organization has exactly one owner.
- Admin -- holds the same permissions as Owner by default, including billing. The difference from Owner is enforced separately from the permission system: an Admin can't remove or demote the Owner, transfer ownership, delete the organization, or promote another member to Admin.
- Member -- day-to-day operations: view receipts and analytics, create and edit receipts, and manage integrations.
- Viewer -- read-only access for auditing or oversight purposes.
- Custom -- starts with no permissions granted; an Owner or Admin turns on exactly the permissions this member needs, one at a time, instead of using a preset role.
Changing a Member's Role
- Go to Organization Settings then Team Members, and open the member's detail page.
- Click Edit Member.
- Select the new role. Choosing Custom switches the permissions list below from a fixed preview to individually toggleable checkboxes.
- Click Save Changes.
Only Owners and Admins can change roles. You cannot change the Owner's role -- ownership must be transferred. A seat-usage bar on the Team Members page shows how many of your plan's member slots are filled.
Managing Access to Other Organizations
If your account has more than one organization, a member's detail page also lists every organization on the account with a toggle for whether this person has access to it. In edit mode, an Owner or Admin can grant access to additional organizations or revoke access to ones the member no longer needs -- each organization keeps its own role and permissions for that member. The organization's owner can't be toggled off, and a member must keep access to at least one organization.
Removing a Member
- Go to Organization Settings then Team Members, and open the member's detail page.
- Click Edit Member, then Remove from Organization.
- Confirm by clicking Yes, Remove Member.
Removed members lose access immediately. Their past actions (imports, generated receipts) are preserved in the system.
Team Member Limits
The Free plan includes 1 team member per organization. Additional members cost $20/year each via the Team Members add-on. See Add-ons.
