How Credits Work
Credits are the currency for generating receipts. One credit = one receipt PDF generated: a first issue, a correction, or regenerating an expired PDF. Credits are consumed when a PDF is generated: at the Generate PDFs step, for a correction, or when you regenerate an expired PDF — not when you import data or send emails. Sending and resending emails is always free, including correcting a donor’s email address and resending.
This means you can import and preview data as many times as you like without using credits. Credits are only used when a PDF is generated, never for importing, previewing or sending.
Cancelling a receipt does not return its credit. If you need to fix an already-issued receipt through Correct & Replace, a correction issues a new receipt PDF and uses 1 credit; the cancelled original’s credit is not returned. Corrections in a test run are free. If the corrected PDF cannot be produced, the credit is returned; regenerating it later uses 1 credit. Also, if the cancelled original’s PDF has expired, re-rendering it as part of a correction costs no extra credit.
Free Tier
Every account starts with the Free plan, which includes:
- 100 receipt credits per year — resets on your signup anniversary. Unused included credits don’t carry over to the next year.
- No credit card required.
This is enough for small organizations or testing the platform.
Credit Packs
Need more receipts? Purchase credit packs as add-ons:

At checkout you choose either:
- One-time purchase — buy once, use within 1 year.
- Yearly auto-renew — automatically renews each year so you never run out.
1-Year Expiration
All purchased credits expire 1 year from the date of purchase (credits granted to your account expire 1 year from the grant), not at your billing anniversary. Unused credits after expiration are lost.
Unused receipt credits are not refundable. See Add-ons for the refund terms on other add-ons.
You will receive warning emails before expiration:
- 30 days before — first notice
- 7 days before — urgent reminder
- 1 day before — final notice
A dashboard banner also shows the countdown as expiration approaches.
PDF Regeneration
If a receipt PDF has expired (after the 30-day retention window on the Free plan), you can regenerate it for 1 credit. The database record is always preserved, so the system has all the data needed to recreate the PDF.

Checking Your Balance
View your current credit balance on the Billing page. The dashboard also shows remaining credits at the top of the screen.
Credit History
Every credit change is recorded in a per-organization ledger on the Credit History page: allocations, consumption, refunds, and manual adjustments each appear as their own entry, with a date and time, who performed it, the reason, a running balance, and a reference back to the receipt or purchase that triggered it. Use it to reconcile your balance or answer questions about where credits went.
